I’ve read better thrillers but I’ve also read a lot worse. The truth about Rosie is obvious to me from the start and I saw the big reveal at the end coming a mile away. I don’t know how many times I shook my head thinking ‘seriously’. James’s behaviour as he becomes obsessed with covering up what Rosie did becomes more elaborate, ridiculous and frankly descends into nonsense. However, the author really needs to draw me in and the pay-out at the end needs to be worth it. I don’t have an issue with books with crazy plots that ask me to suspend belief in fact these are some of the best books I’ve ever read. The book does have its moments but fell a little flat for me. I didn’t think much of this month’s choices for Amazon First Reads and this is the only one that sounded interesting.
